If you’re grappling with the throbbing, often unbearable pain of a toothache, you’re not alone.
Around the world, many individuals experience this discomfort, which can disrupt daily routines and lower the quality of life. But what if a simple home remedy could alleviate your toothache?
Here, we at Mandy News bring you an unconventional yet powerful solution: a mixture of coconut shell and salt.
Why Coconut Shell and Salt?
Toothaches can be caused by a variety of factors including cavities, gum disease, or a dental infection. Sometimes, they even result from non-dental causes like sinus infections or tension in the facial muscles. While it’s critical to consult a dental professional for severe or prolonged toothaches, you might find relief with a simple home remedy in the interim.
The pairing of coconut shell and salt may seem unusual, but these components offer an array of potential benefits for dental health.
“Coconut shells are rich in phenolic compounds, which have antimicrobial properties. These can help fight against bacteria that contribute to tooth decay and gum disease,” explains a Mandy News health expert.
Salt, on the other hand, can draw out any fluid that may be causing a tooth to swell, thereby reducing pain.
Step-by-Step Guide to Prepare the Remedy
Here’s a step-by-step guide to preparing this unique toothache relief remedy. Please remember, it’s important to ensure that the coconut shell used is very dry and free from any remnants of the coconut flesh.
Find a Dry Coconut: Look for a very dry coconut and break it open. Discard the seed and any remaining flesh. All you need is the hard, outer shell.
Clean the Shell: Rinse the shell thoroughly with clean water.
Boil Thoroughly: Make sure to boil the mixture well. This ensures the compounds in the shell are released into the water and the salt is fully dissolved.
Cool and Use: Allow the mixture to cool down to a safe temperature. Gargle the mixture, then spit it out.
Repeat Regularly: Do this at least three times daily.
“The coconut shell and salt remedy may help alleviate toothache, but it’s not a cure-all. If you experience severe or persistent tooth pain, don’t hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional,” advises our resident health and wellness specialist at Mandy News.
We’d love to hear about your experiences with this home remedy. Feel free to share your feedback or testimonials on Mandy News.

Worked very well for me. So much so that I had to come look up why it worked. But like the article said, it not a cure but it will buy you some time. I visibly saw the swelling in my mouth go down.
