Chadian President Idriss Deby Shot Dead: Here’s What We Know

Chadian army said President Idriss Deby, 68, was shot by rebels and died from the injuries on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

Mr Derby died this morning due to attacks in the country by rebels.

In a statement by the Rebels of the Front for Change and Concord in Chad (Front Pour l’Alternance et La Concorde au Tchad) (FACT) they said that Deby was shot at the battlefield.

He was announced as the winner of the controversial election with 79.32% of the votes yesterday.

The country Army has now selected the former President’s Idriss Deby’s son, Gen. Mahamat Idriss Deby to be the new Head of State. Gen. Mahamat Idriss Deby is a 4-star general and will be the Head of the Military Council.
