The trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd has began

Derek Chauvin’s trial for the killing of  George Floyd begins Monday, March 29, 2021, with opening statements.

• Charges: 2nd-, 3rd-degree murder, 2nd-degree manslaughter
• Jury: 9 of 15 are white
• Timeline: expected to take 4 weeks
• Courthouse: surrounded by concrete barriers, razor wire

George Floyd was murdered during the day, in public and on video sighted by Mandy News by a former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin who knelt on him for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.

So far the prosecutors said, they are correcting the 8:46 timing that has become a symbol of police brutality.

PS: Derek Chauvin is on trial, not George Floyd.
