IGP Demands Seun Kuti's Arrest for Assaulting Police Officer

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the arrest of Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, following a viral video showing Kuti assaulting a uniformed police officer.

“The IGP has ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.”

Official Statement

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, it was disclosed that the IGP has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, to apprehend Kuti for his actions.

Speedy Investigation and Prosecution

The IGP has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that justice is served, promising a swift investigation into the incident. He has also vowed to prosecute Kuti if found guilty.

Assurance to Nigerians

IGP Usman Alkali Baba further assures Nigerians that acts of contempt or disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated. He stated:

“Offenders of such hideous crimes will surely be brought to the book.”

This comes as a stern warning to individuals who may want to disregard the law, reinforcing the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
