Peru President Impeachment
The previous week, the Peruvian Congress approved the start of an impeachment procedure against Castillo, who is accused of having “moral incapacity” to hold the position. This is the third official attempt to unseat the left-wing leader since he took office in 2021.
The pressure increased as well after the Congress began to evaluate a complaint filed by the Public Ministry against Castillo for alleged corruption. The Promoter requests that he be temporarily removed from his duties.
