Ned Nwoko, a Nigerian lawyer, politician, and philanthropist, has stated that Peter Obi will only do well as Minister of Economy, but that he lacks the necessary organization and that Igbos are not ready for the presidency.
On Monday, June 20th, the Delta-born politician expressed his views on the former Governor of Anambra State, running for President under the Labour Party’s platform in the upcoming presidential election.

Ned Nwoko, in an interview with BBC Igbo, stated that Peter Obi is a good man and an economic strategist who has the potential to play a key role in government.
The lawyer, who is married to actress Regina Daniels, also stated that although Peter Obi is popular but may have a following, he lacks the necessary structure to function, as he would require a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as state legislative assemblies and government.
He also stated that achieving all of these goals could take at least eight years. Nwoko went on to say that there are numerous factors working against Peter Obi becoming President of Nigeria, and that “it would never happen.”

Nwoko also said that Igbos are unprepared for the presidency, claiming that this was demonstrated during the primaries. He also pondered why delegates never voted for Igbo candidates, preferring instead to vote for people from other parts of the country.
He claims that Igbos are primarily self-centered and unconcerned about others. Nwoko went on to say that he doesn’t believe in zoning but does believe in merit.
