Kush is a cheap drug, just 20p a joint, and it’s become a quick escape for many in Sierra Leone’s capital, Freetown. But this escape comes at a huge cost.

Kush is sold right on the streets, even though it’s illegal. The people selling it don’t really know what’s in it. Lately, it’s not just the usual dangerous stuff like fentanyl – there’s talk of human bones being mixed in.
Graveyards Under Threat
In a really creepy turn, grave robbers are now a problem. They’re stealing human bones, possibly to mix into Kush. Over a thousand graves have been messed with. It’s pretty scary stuff.
Why Human Bones?
Doctors like Dr. Juu Matia are worried. They say human bones have stuff in them that can make people feel high. This is bad news for everyone, especially since most of Dr. Juu’s patients are hooked on Kush.
The Tough Life on the Streets
Life is hard for those addicted to Kush. There aren’t many places they can go for help. Kadu, who gives out food on the city’s edge, sees the sad effects of Kush every day. He’s even taking care of a baby born addicted to the drug.
A Mother’s Fight
Haaru, a young mom and recovering addict, has left her baby with a charity. She’s trying to get better and has big dreams of becoming a lawyer.
A Country’s Big Challenge
The young people of Sierra Leone face a tough choice: get lost in the world of Kush or try to deal with life’s hard knocks. What they decide will really matter for the future of the country.
