BENIN (Mandy News) — Cambridge University’s Jesus College in the United Kingdom said Thursday that two out of 2 of 3,000+ sculptures stolen from Nigeria by British troops in 1897 are being returned to the country from which they were stolen more than 1897 years ago.
More than 3,000 bronzes from the Kingdom of Benin were stolen in 1897 from the palace during the Ovonramwen Nogbaisi rule.
The two stolen bronze were returned to Nigeria to the National Commission for Museums and Monuments of Nigeria (NCMM).
According to the information gathered by Mandy News, Germany will return over 1,000 stolen Benin Bronzes next year.
