Zhang Hang, the press officer at the Chinese embassy, has stated that there is no Chinese police station in Nigeria.
According to media reports, Nigeria now has a Chinese police station, but the People’s Republic of China has disputed this.
Just this week, a number of media publications stated that the Chinese government opened police stations in Nigeria in an effort to combat the rising criminal activity of its nationals overseas.
Responding to the viral news reports According to Zhang Hang, the press officer for the Chinese embassy, who spoke with AIT, said the rumor is based on a malicious report written by a human rights organization in Europe that is hostile to China.
Hang continued by stating that there isn’t a single Chinese police station in Nigeria or anywhere else; instead, they only have a limited range of outreach services to Chinese communities.
He stated that China has no plans to operate police stations outside of its borders or the time or resources to do so, according to Mr Hang, in the revealing telephone discussion with the Nigerian media outlet, AIT.
On February 10, 1971, formal diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China were formed. Since then, cultural and people-to-people exchanges have strengthened the already-warm ties.
