Money raised for baby’s surgery lost to ‘scammer’ on Twitter

Mandy News understands that at least two Nigerian Twitter Influencers have been accused by Bimbo Cash on Twitter, after they received public donations via Twitter campaign, against a baby name Desire who the influencers claim she is fighting for her life in University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH). Bimbo Cash believes a lot of money was raised after the tweet generated more than 7,000 retweets and 12K likes, with a first bank account.

According to Bimbo’s report;

“Yesterday, two influencers @Alex_Houseof308, @thetalkativeNG
campaigned for a child with a hole in the heart seeking 11M. They generated over 7,000 retweets and 12K likes, hundreds of kind-hearted Nigerians donated to the fundraising not knowing It is a Scam. #CoordinatedScam

The baby’s real name is Desire and her mother’s Instagram handle is @whitesugarconcept January last year a crowdfunding was done for her on Instagram but the money raised wasn’t enough for the surgery. In March, there was another case, #SaveBeniah
A 2year old who needed 15M for heart surgery. The case went viral and almost everyone stepped in and the family got over 170M naira. On the day they were to travel for the surgery, the baby died. Many reacted to this and it caused lots of controversies. At the end, Beniah’s Dad
Swiftly announced to give part of the money raised back to charity. Out of the 170M raised, He gave out 25M to other children in need of surgery. Baby Desire was a beneficiary. Her mother got 8M naira from Beniah’s Dad. Plus the other donations gotten, Desire was flown abroad,” Bimbo reveals.Image

When Baby Desire got home ,the family rejoiced and thanked all supporters and donors
This is Baby Desire ,after the surgery. Now that so many people have donated to this and these handlers must have gotten millions from the viral SOS generated by influencers using @FBN_help @FirstBankngr .Let’s call on First Bank to freeze this account and arrest should be madeImage
This is the First Bank account used. This shouldn’t be allowed . Genuine request and SOS will come and people won’t want to assist due to this wickedness. People work for their money and shouldn’t be made to look like this due to their kind hearts. @FBN_help do somethingImage
Alex and the other guy said they are sorry and are not aware this is a scam if we are made to believe that, what if they are part of the scam? What if they are not? How do you engineer such a huge campaign without due diligence? Ignorance is not an excuse in law. @PoliceNG
One of the handlers deactivated already. @FBN_help how do we recover people’s money? @FirstBankngr We are waiting.
