A 38-year-old woman drowned in a swimming pool at her own wedding party in Limeira, a city in the eastern part of the Brazilian state of São Paulo.
The incident happened in the Pires de Baixo neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, April 14.
According to the Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo (SSP-SP), the victim lost his balance during the celebration and fell into the pool.
People who were at the scene tried to help Elisangela Gazano, but were unable to do so. The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called and took the victim to the hospital, but she did not survive.
At Limeira Police Station, the incident report was filed under the category of accidental death.
Also on social media, a friend reported that the wedding and birthday of the bride’s daughter were being celebrated at a farm. “She fell in the pool and she had a phobia,” she wrote.
“Just the other day I met you at the market, I was so happy that you were going to get married… Look what destiny is like. A dream being fulfilled and on the same day without knowing that there would be a goodbye, that there would be your departure”, she lamented another friend on social media.
