Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has apprehended eleven persons in connection with the terrorist attack on the Crocus Crocus City Hall concert venue outside Moscow, according to a statement sighted by MandyNews.com.
The arrests include “four terrorists who were directly involved in the terrorist attack on Crocus,” according to the statement. The investigation into other accomplices is still ongoing, it added.
The perpetrators of the Friday night attack wanted to flee by a car towards the Russian-Ukrainian border, according to the FSB on Saturday.”The criminals intended to cross the Russia-Ukraine border and had relevant contacts on the Ukrainian side,” the statement said.
According to the authority, “all four terrorists” were apprehended in Russia’s Bryansk Region within hours as a consequence of well-coordinated measures by security forces and police. The inmates are now being transported to Moscow, the statement added.
The attack on Crocus City Hall was “carefully planned,” with the attackers using weapons stored in a stockpile ahead of time, according to the the Federal Security Service.
Russia’s Investigative Committee further announced that four individuals who “committed the terrorist attack” on Crocus City Hall had been apprehended in Bryansk Region, “not far from the border with Ukraine.”
On Friday night, gunmen stormed Crocus City Hall in the town of Krasnogorsk, on Moscow’s western suburbs. It occurred before a concert by Russian rock band Picnic, when the venue, which has an estimated capacity of 7,500, was nearly full.
The terrorists randomly shot at the crowd before setting fire to the building. They fled the site in what was described as a white Renault Symbol/Clio automobile, sparking a massive manhunt.
According to Russia’s Investigative Committee, at least 115 people died in the incident. According to the Moscow Region Health Ministry, at least 121 persons were injured, 107 of them required hospitalization.
