The White House announced on Saturday that five more pages of confidential documents had been discovered in a room next to the garage of US President Joe Biden’s family home in Wilmington, Delaware.
This report appears on New York Times first.
These documents date back to Biden’s tenure as vice president (2009-2017). After Richard Sauber, the president’s legal counsel, arrived on Thursday night, the papers were discovered.
These newly discovered papers supplement earlier files discovered at the president’s family residence, which the White House disclosed on Thursday, and other private documents discovered in a Washington office in November.
Following the discovery of secret government documents in President Joe Biden’s home and other locations, Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, requested this Thursday that Congress launch an investigation.
The documents controversy, according to him, is “a new misstep by the Biden administration.”
Robert Hur, a special counsel who has been appointed by US Attorney General Merrick Garland, will lead the investigation into whether President Biden may have improperly used secret information.
