Who is the current world champion soccer team? The answer is Argentina.

Argentina won the World Cup for the third time by defeating France on penalties in Qatar 2022.

Following a thrilling 3-3 draw, the Albiceleste defeated France 4-2 in a penalty shootout on Sunday to win the World Cup for a record-tying third time.

In the game of 6 goals versus the French, Messi scores 2 goals and wins the title that had been lacking in his career. After 36 years, Argentina reclaim the championship.

The World Cup final at the Lusail Stadium ended in a tie after extra time thanks to three goals from Kylian Mbappé of France.

Gonzalo Montiel, an Argentine substitute, scored the game-winning penalty kick to give his country an emotional glorious victory in a night of extraordinarily high tension.

The defending champions, France, rallied from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits in extra time to draw the game at 3-3 and trigger a penalty shootout.

Prior to Angel Di Mara making it 2-0, Messi had handed Argentina the lead from the penalty mark in the first half.

Prior to Mbappé’s two goals in the 80th and 81st minutes, which tied the game at 2-2, it appeared that the Albiceleste will indeed easily win.

Hugo Lloris of France countered the Lautaro Martnez’s effort, but Messi of Argentina scored from close range to give Argentina a 3-2 advantage in overtime. France appeared to be the more likely team to continue and win the game.

Two minutes before extra time was to expire, meanwhile, Montiel was penalized for handball, adding to the drama.

Mbappé, a teammate of Messi’s at Paris Saint-Germain, stepped forward to convert a second penalty kick to force overtime.

However, Argentina was the winner and earned a third championship as a result.

Argentina will receive $42 million from Football association as reward for winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, whereas France will only receive $30 million.
