The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has been appointed by Member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as to lead the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Personal Assistant on New Media to Buhari, Bashir Ahmad announced via Twitter on Thursday, April 23 that Buhari has been appointed the coordinator of the COVID-19 response in West Africa.
“President Buhari’s appointment as Champion of the COVID-19 response, by the ECOWAS Leaders, took place today at the Extraordinary ECOWAS Summit on COVID-19 which was held via teleconferencing under the Chairmanship of H.E. Mahamadou Issoufou, President of the Republic of Niger,” Bashir tweeted.
