Nigeria’s President Mohammadu Buhari on Thursday’s climate change bill into law.
Buhari signed the bills at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
At the conference, the president promised that by 2060, Nigeria would reach net zero — a process that ensures balanced emission and removal of carbon from the atmosphere.
The Bill is intended to –
- mainstreaming of climate change actions and the establishment of a National Council on Climate Change;
- paves the way for environmental and economic accounting ;
- push for a net zero emission deadline plan in the country.
