A nine-year-old Mexican girl has become the latest victim of drownings on Mexico–United States border as migrants attempt to cross the Rio Grande river into the world’s most powerful country.

In case you don’t know, the Rio Grande river is where growing numbers of migrant families are illegally crossing into the US to seek asylum it’s located in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado.

The child, whose name has been withheld, drowned on Saturday, March 20, while attempting to cross the river with two other migrants in the borderlands which have killed many people in the past and left millions stranded.

The three immigrants were rescued by the Del Rio Sector Marine Unit patrol which administered immediately first aid while transporting them to shore.

Information gathered by MandyNews.com seems to indicate that the child died while the Two others, a mother from Guatemala and her three-year-old child from Mexico, regained consciousness, the Marine Unit said in a statement.

“Agents attempted life-saving efforts on the second child, a nine-year-old from Mexico and transferred care to the Eagle Pass Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services,” the official said.
