Summary:
- An exclusive report by Peoples Gazette reveals that Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola allegedly disguised himself as a physically-challenged old man in London to secretly meet with President-elect Bola Tinubu.
- Ariwoola and Tinubu reportedly traveled separately to avoid suspicion, and the purpose of their meeting remains unknown.
- This news has raised concerns about the credibility and impartiality of the Supreme Court, particularly given the recent controversial judgments passed under Ariwoola’s leadership.
The People’s Gazette said in an exclusive report that Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola was seen in London dressed as an old man with physical problems.
He was getting ready for a secret meeting with President-elect Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu was supposed to be taking a trip to London to relax after his recent election win, but Ariwoola’s movements were found out.
Sources say that Ariwoola left Nigeria on March 11, using a wheelchair to hide his identity at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
When he got to a hotel in London, he kept using the wheelchair, but later he was seen getting around without help. Ariwoola is not known to have any physical disabilities.
According to the report, Tinubu and Ariwoola planned their trips separately to avoid suspicion. Both traveled secretly, with Tinubu’s trip only coming to light when it was reported as a medical emergency.
Ariwoola’s reason for meeting Tinubu is currently unknown.
However, speculation suggests that the meeting could be related to the legal challenges surrounding Tinubu’s election as president and whether the opposition parties’ petitions pose any threat.
The People’s Gazette is keeping photos of Ariwoola and the hotel where he stayed from the public for now to protect their sources.
Festus Akande, a spokesman for the Supreme Court, hung up when contacted for comment. The National Judicial Council and Tinubu’s spokespersons declined to comment on the matter as well.
Ariwoola’s alleged meeting with Tinubu has raised concerns about the credibility of the Supreme Court, especially given the recent controversial judgments passed under Ariwoola’s leadership.
These include the return of Hope Uzodinma as governor in Imo, despite coming fourth in the election, and the enforcement of Ahmad Lawan as the APC candidate in Yobe North Senatorial District, even though he did not participate in the primaries.
In November 2022, a video showed Ariwoola praising Seyi Makinde for hurting Atiku Abubakar’s campaign.
The Supreme Court denied Ariwoola’s statement, but the video evidence contradicted the denial. Ariwoola was later questioned by the State Security Service, which expressed concerns that his comments could threaten Nigeria’s stability.
Even with all of these problems, Ariwoola and the Supreme Court continue to reassure Nigerians that justice will be done in a fair and constitutional way.
A spokesman recently stated that Ariwoola can be expected to impartially appoint justices for the petitions filed by opposition candidates Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar when they reach the Supreme Court later this year.
The People’s Gazette’s exclusive report has made people wonder about the fairness and openness of Nigeria’s highest court, especially in light of the country’s political situation.
With the legal challenges against Tinubu’s election still ongoing, the credibility of the Supreme Court will be a crucial factor in ensuring fair justice for all parties involved.
