In a significant twist in the Nigerian election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), suffered a setback as he lost his polling unit to Atiku Abubakar’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a tightly contested race. The election was held at polling unit 021 located in the Tudun Wada ward, in Zaria LGA of Kaduna state.
According to the official results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), out of the 272 accredited voters at the polling unit, the PDP emerged victorious with 102 votes, closely followed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) with 98 votes. The Labour Party (LP) which fielded Baba-Ahmed managed to secure only 54 votes, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) secured 11 votes.
The outcome of the poll at the polling unit is an indication of how competitive and unpredictable the overall election result may turn out to be. The PDP’s victory at Baba-Ahmed’s polling unit is an important development that could tilt the balance of the elections in their favor.
Observers and analysts have described the elections as one of the most significant in Nigeria’s history, with the potential to shape the country’s future for years to come. The outcome of the elections is eagerly awaited, and many are hoping for a peaceful and transparent process that reflects the will of the people.
