Rappers Drake from Canada and 21 Savage from Atlanta came together to create the studio album Her Loss. Through OVO, Republic, Slaughter Gang, and Epic, it was made available on November 4, 2022.
Drake’s seventh studio album, Honestly, Nevermind, was released on June 17, 2022, and its closing track, “Jimmy Cooks,” also features 21 Savage.
The song was the most selling track off the album when it was first released, debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. However, it wasn’t until October 11 that the song was formally served to mainstream radio as a single.
During 21 Savage performance in Atlanta on October 19, Drake made an unexpected appearance.
On October 20, Drake said that the “Jimmy Cooks” music video would debut the following day, on 21 Savage’s 30th birthday. That day saw the official release of the video.
At 1:25, a brief break in the video was made when text with typographic letters that stated “Her Loss – album by Drake and 21 Savage – October 28, 2022” appeared.
The album was subsequently announced on OVO and Republic’s social media accounts.
The two have previously worked together on “Sneakin” (2016), “Issa” (2017), “Mr Right Now” (2020), “Knife Talk” (2021), and most recently, “Jimmy Cooks.”
On October 26, Drake revealed that the album’s release date had been postponed to November 4, 2022 because OVO record producer 40 contracted COVID-19 while mixing and mastering the album.
