Governor Diri Sacked: Tribunal Orders Fresh Election In Bayelsa within 90 days

The Bayelsa State Gubernatorial Petition Tribunal has nullified the election of Gov Duoye Diri. The election was nullified based on a petition by the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party, which argued that it was unlawfully excluded from participating in the election.

The tribunal said it found merit in the petition and consequently nullified the election and ordered INEC to conduct a bye-election in the state within 90 days.

Why Tribunal Orders Fresh Election In Bayelsa?

The Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party (ANDP) had asked the tribunal to cancel the election because it was excluded from the November 16, 2019 governorship poll.
