Here’s How Much Nigerian Doctors Treating Coronavirus Earn

The deadly coronavirus COVID-19 has spread to over 210 countries. In Nigeria, the virus has spread to 17 states in the country over 280 cases, 51 people recovered and 7 deaths from the disease.

The coronavirus outbreak has had a lot of damages on almost every country’s around the world, as schools and businesses shutter to curb the spread. Hospital workers are fighting the virus every day and putting their own health at risk to help test or treat those infected by the coronavirus.

Mandy News decided to look at how much health workers in Nigeria, the “Giant of Africa” earn.

Here’s how much hospital workers coronavirus pandemic is getting paid

On Friday, 10 April FCT Minister – Mohammed Musa Bello announces the “daily risk” fees for COVID-19 Frontline health workers;

  • Doctors earn a minimum of N50,000 ($130) a day

  • Nurses earn a minimum of N50,000 ($130) a day

  • Lab scientists earn a minimum of N50,000 ($130) a day
  • Pharmacists earn a minimum of N30,000 ($78) a day
  • Ward heads earn a minimum of N30,000 ($78) a day

  • Cleaners earn a minimum of N30,000 ($78) a day

  • Drivers earn a minimum of N20,000 ($52) a day

At the time of this report, the risk allowance for front line health workers to fight COVID-19 in Nigeria is N5,000.
