Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, Kaduna-based Islamic cleric and a spokesman for bandits said he able to meet with the top leaders of the deadly gang terrorizing the northern part of Nigeria, but they now want peace.
Recall Mandy News previously reported that the bandits are ready to help fight insecurity in Nigeria.
Gumi said he had met with the commanders of bandits in Nigeria and they are now ready to dialogue with the government.
The cleric made this known during an interview with DAILY POST on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
Gumi said: “they were pushed into banditry by circumstances.
“If they have a genuine partner, they are ready to stop it; they are tired and want peace.
“We are able to see about 80 per cent of the big ones and then some small splinter groups which we could not meet because due to circumstances as we cannot go into the bush again.
“But generally, they are ready for peace, in fact, we have gathered their representatives, discussed with them, and they said they are ready but need a genuine partner. Politics is the cause of this issue.”
