Ime Udoka, the head coach of the Boston Celtics, had a close, mutually beneficial connection with a female employee of the team, sources informed The Athletic on Wednesday.
The Boston Celtics hired Udoka as their head coach on June 28, 2021, making him the team’s fifth head coach of African descent overall. Despite being 18-21 at the beginning of the season, Udoka guided the Celtics to a 51-31 record and their first berth in the NBA Finals since 2010.
Ime Udoka, a 45-year-old Nigerian, is being disciplined for his part in an intimate relationship with a lady who works for the team, according to ESPN. The discipline is expected to entail a significant ban.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Udoka’s misconduct involved an “improper intimate and consensual relationship” with a woman who was on the Celtics’ staff.

Following his NBA playing career, Udoka worked as an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and San Antonio Spurs until joining the Boston Celtics last summer.
