A country in Western Asia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, has admits shooting down Ukrainian airliner that killed 176 passengers near Tehran on Wednesday, 8 January 2020.
Iran’s military and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani took to Twitter announced early Saturday January 11, 2020 that it had accidentally shot down a Ukrainian passenger jet, blaming human error.
“Armed Forces’ internal investigation has concluded that regrettably missiles fired due to human error caused the horrific crash of the Ukrainian plane & death of 176 innocent people. Investigations continue to identify & prosecute this great tragedy & unforgivable mistake,” President Hassan Rouhani said on Twitter.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran deeply regrets this disastrous mistake. My thoughts and prayers go to all the mourning families. I offer my sincerest condolences, he said.”
