Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insists that the losing manager of the Champions League final is not a failure and has still done a wonderful job for their side.
Both Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp are searching for their first silverware at their respective clubs in Madrid, with the latter currently on a six-match losing streak in finals dating back to his time in Germany with Borussia Dortmund. But even if Liverpool lose from a winning position in Madrid, Mourinho insists that Klopp should not be deemed a failure.“It’s not fair [that one team has to lose] but it’s reality.
“For people to say one of them is a failure in the case of the managers is not fair,” Mourinho told beIN Sports.
“They are in the club for four years and they both couldn’t win a trophy and today one of them goes home with a big one and the other one goes home without a trophy.
“It’s not fair to say this one is amazing and this one is a failure but this is the reality of life. We are here to protect the loser because the loser doesn’t deserve to be called a loser tonight because they both deserve to be here.”
