The trending news in Ghana as at Sunday, August 28, 2022 was a story of a Ghana man who was killed by lions after scaling a zoo fence.
At the Accra Zoo, which is located inside the Achimota Forest, a lion is said to have murdered a middle-aged man.
The man is in his mid-thirties, according to the officials.
According to reports, the man broke into the lions fence, and one of the animals then attacked and hurt him.
On Sunday evening, the authorities officially pronounced the victim dead from his wounds.
The reason for the man’s conduct is unknown to zoo officials.
According to a statement by John Allotey, the Forestry Commission’s CEO:
- “Around 12:00 hours today 28th August 2022, officials of the Accra Zoo on a routine patrol, noticed a middle-aged man (an intruder) had jumped the security fences and entered the lions’ enclosure of the Zoo.
- The motive of the intruder is yet to be determined. The intruder was attacked and injured by one of the lions, within the inner fencing of the enclosure.”
- “The intruder has been confirmed dead from injuries sustained, and the body has been conveyed to the morgue.”
He mentioned how healthy each and every lion is.
“Forestry Commission wishes to assure the general public that no lion has escaped from the Accra Zoo,” he added.
