Lionel Messi has been named the 2021 Ballon d’Or winner by the France Football magazine.
A bumper year for Messi saw him shovel the 65th annual ceremony of the Ballon d’Or evening in Paris. The Paris Saint-Germain Forward was a heavy favourite prior to the announcement on Monday, having won the 2021 Copa America for his country.
Messi had been named the winner for the past six years.
