A protester who threw eggs at King Charles and the Queen Consort in York City has been arrested by the police.
Four police officers instantly threw the young man, who was later identified as Patrick Thelwell, to the ground.
According to the DailyMail report, the protester was screaming “this country was built on the blood of slaves” while he was throwing the eggs at the monarch.ย
People were shocked by the man’s behavior. He was said to be an Extinction Rebellion activist and had previously run for the Green Party.
In the now viral video, people on the gathering can be heard shouting “God save the King” and “shame on you.”
Four eggs can be seen flying through the air next to Charles and cracking on the ground next to him as he visited local leaders in a video shared by the ITV News.
Charles turned around for a split second to see the broken eggs; he appeared worried and perplexed but barely responded because he was covered.
