Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka has announced that she is pregnant, sending waves of excitement through the tennis world.
The three-time Grand Slam champion made the announcement on social media, sharing a photo of her ultrasound scan with a growing baby bump.
In her post, Osaka wrote that she “Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023.” The tennis star went further to say that she is “The past few years have been interesting to say the least, but I find that its the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun.
“These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to. I realize that life is so short and I don’t take any moments for granted, everyday is a new blessing and adventure. I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, “that’s my mom”, haha. 2023 will be a year that’ll be full of lessons for me and I hope I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one cause I’ll be at Aus 2024.”

Naomi Osaka is one of the most successful and popular players on the WTA Tour, and her pregnancy announcement is a big deal for fans around the world. Her many fans are already wishing her the best and are looking forward to her return to the court.
Aside from her achievements as a player, Osaka is also known for her use of platform on the court to raise awareness about racial and social justice. She was even fined by officials at French Open for refusing to conduct media interviews, citing mental health reasons.
The news of her pregnancy also comes after her last win in Australian Open in 2021. This win made her the first Asian player to ever hold the No. 1 ranking in singles. She’s also the first player from Japan to win a Grand Slam singles tournament, and the youngest player to win the US Open since Maria Sharapova in 2006.
