The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, announced on Tuesday that he had resigned his Lagos APC membership for Ogun.
This was done mere hours after announcing his interest in running for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.
What he said: On Tuesday, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s spokesperson, Laolu Akande, told media that on February 9, 2021, Yemi Osinbajo had moved his Lagos membership to Ogun State Membership status in Ward One, Ikenne, Ogun State.
Why it happened: According to his social media supporters, the vice president does not want to be treated like former Lagos State Governor Ambode.
How we got here: Osinbajo served as a commissioner in Tinubu’s Lagos State administration. According to reports, Osinbajo was chosen as Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate with the support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tinubu and Osinbajo the heat is on:
On January 20, 2022, Bola Ahmed Tinubu became the first choice among the frontrunners to succeed Mohammadu Buhari, whose tenure as president ends in May 2023.
As the list of presidential aspirants grew long, Rotimi Amaechi declared his ambition, which reduced the chances of the 70-year-old Tinubu.
To make matters worse, vice president Yemi Osinbajo declared his ambition to run for president on Monday.
As it stands now, the chance for Tinubu to get the All Progress Congress (APC) presidential ticket has been reduced because of Yemi Osinbajo and Rotimi Amaechi.
Prophecy on Tinubu and Osinbajo:
According to Primate Ayodele’s 2023 new year prophecy, he revealed that Tinubu and Osinbajo would battle.
- ‘’He will be betrayed by those he brought up.
- I see his past coming to hunt him in APC. In his political journey.”
