Peter Obi has appointed John Enenche to his presidential advisory committee.
If you don’t know who John Enenche is, he was the spokesperson for the Nigerian army who claimed that the footage of the Lekki toll gate massacre was photoshopped.
Mr. John is the senior brother of Pastor Paul Eneche, founder and senior pastor of Dunamis Gospel Church. He was a retired general and the previous head of information for the military.
The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Obi, issued a list of his campaign team on Wednesday. It had 1,234 individuals, including the general who had been chosen to represent the North-Central.
The appointment of Mr. Enenche has sparked a backlash from the party’s followers, who say that given his involvement in covering up the Lekki tragedy in October 2020, he is unfit to hold any position in Mr. Obi’s campaign team.
The ‘Obidients,’ the nickname given to the supporters of the former governor of Anambra State, are calling for the removal of Mr. Enenche’s name from the campaign council.
In October 2020, the retired general Mr. Enenche alleged that DJ Switch’s Instagram live footage of #EndSARS protesters being murdered by Nigerian soldiers was altered. He shared a video on Twitter supporting his assertions.
