Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has offered some electoral advice to Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and former Vice-Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections.
According to Primate Ayodele, Obi’s chances of success in the 2023 elections are uncertain, and he should focus on putting his ambition in order.
“Everything will change one day whereby Obi’s chances will be uncertain, he should still try to put his ambition in order. The east is good for him, he should go back to the north,” he said.
Primate Ayodele advised Obi to work hard and focus on his people, as well as ensuring that he has a strong team to deliver results for him. He cautioned against relying on rhetoric and ‘mouth’, stating that what Obi needs is people who can work hard and deliver.
“Peter Obi should still work hard so the aftermath of the election will favour him, he doesn’t need ‘mouth’ now but people that will deliver for him. He needs to still work on his people because some will work against him,” he said.
In addition to his advice to Peter Obi, Primate Ayodele also made predictions about the voting patterns in the north of Nigeria. He predicted that the northerners will be divided due to the emergence of Bola Tinubu, a prominent politician from the southwest, as a presidential candidate. This division, he warned, could affect Tinubu’s chances of securing overwhelming votes in the north.
“The northerners will be divided because of Tinubu, he won’t have overwhelming votes as expected. The north will not be unified about who to vote for, they will be advised to vote for Atiku,” he said.
Primate Ayodele’s predictions come amidst rising tensions in the country ahead of the 2023 presidential election. Many political analysts have raised concerns about the potential for violence and electoral malpractice, particularly in the northern parts of the country. His warnings and advice to Peter Obi are likely to be taken seriously by many, given his large following in Nigeria.
It remains to be seen how Peter Obi will respond to Primate Ayodele’s advice, and whether his predictions about the north will come to pass. However, the 2023 elections in Nigeria are likely to be closely watched by both local and international observers, and it is hoped that the country will be able to conduct a free, fair and peaceful electoral process.
