The remains of Genoa’s Morandi Bridge were blown up in a controlled explosion, nearly a year after the structure collapsed in a disaster that killed 43 people.
More than 3,400 residents in the area were evacuated on Friday morning ahead of the controlled explosions, which brought down two large towers consisting of about 4,500 tonnes of concrete and steel.
