South Africa has its first confirmed coronavirus case, the Health Ministry says the National Institute for Communicable Diseases confirmed a suspected case of COVID-19 has tested positive.
The man was said to have traveled with his wife and other 10 people when they arrived in South Africa on Sunday,
The ministry said in a statement, “The patient consulted with a private general practitioner on March 3, with symptoms of fever, headache, malaise, a sore throat, and a cough”.
“The practice nurse took swabs and delivered it to the lab.”
As of Thursday, 5 March 2020 the coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 87 countries around the world with cases of 96,779 and 3,308 death.
