Tragedy Strikes Ojuelegba Bridge: Container Crushes Bus, All Passengers Dead Except Conductor

On a fateful Sunday, the residents of Lagos, Nigeria, were left in shock as a container fell from a truck on the busy Ojuelegba bridge and crushed a commercial bus, killing all passengers on board except for the conductor.

“The conductor was forcibly held down by local agberos, who demanded payment from him before he could be freed.” – eyewitness

The Incident

The incident, which took place in the late hours of the afternoon, caused chaos and brought traffic to a standstill on the bridge. The bus was carrying passengers who were on their way home from churches and other events. The driver was waiting for the conductor when the tragedy occurred. The driver immediately stopped on the bridge when he realized that the conductor was being held down by the agberos.

LASEMA’s Response

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) was quickly alerted and arrived at the scene to carry out a rescue operation. Sadly, all the passengers on the bus were pronounced dead at the scene, while the bodies were taken to the state mortuary.

The incident has sparked outrage among the residents of Lagos, who are calling for immediate action to be taken against the agberos who are known for their forceful demands for payments from commercial bus conductors.
