The United States government has evacuated 998 American citizens from Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria on Monday, amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The evacuation, first reported by U.S Embassy Abuja official Twitter handle on Thursday, 9 April

Confirming the evacuation, the United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo took to Twitter to announced.

He wrote; “More great news, this time from Mission Nigeria! U.S. Consulate General Lagos and
@USEmbassyAbuja
repatriated 998 Americans. Our dedicated staff continue working hard to bring #AmericansHome,” he said.
