U.S. Evacuates 998 Citizens From Nigeria

The United States government has evacuated 998 American citizens from Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria on Monday, amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The evacuation, first reported by U.S Embassy Abuja official Twitter handle on Thursday, 9 April

What does it take to repatriate 997 Americans back in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic? It isn’t easy. Consulate General Lagos will show you how it’s done,” US Embassy Abuja said.

Confirming the evacuation, the United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo took to Twitter to announced.

He wrote; “More great news, this time from Mission Nigeria! U.S. Consulate General Lagos and
@USEmbassyAbuja
repatriated 998 Americans. Our dedicated staff continue working hard to bring #AmericansHome,” he said.
