The US government has issued an alert to South Africa, citing a ‘possible terrorist attack’ in Sandton.
Following the US Embassy terror warning to Nigeria, the country’s embassy in South Africa also issued a warning of possible terror attacks in Sandton.
According to the official notice, the terror is aimed at mass crowds in an unnamed part of Sandton.
The embassy asked personnel to avoid gatherings in the region this weekend in a security advisory that was released on Wednesday despite the fact that it did not have any additional information.
“Terrorists may be planning to conduct an attack targeting large gatherings of people at an unspecified location.
There is no further information regarding the timing, method or target of the potential attack,” it said.
