At least 66 people died on September 5 as a result of a 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Sichuan in southwest China.

As a result, Chinese firefighters labored in hazardous terrain to assist with the evacuation of more than 11,000 people.

Firefighters were seen stretching a stretcher carrying an injured person across a temporary bridge made of tree trunks while muddy torrents ran beneath them in state media footage seen by MandyNews.com and shot at the epicenter in Luding County.

People who could walk fled along a path that ran along the river slopes that had been affected by Monday’s earthquake. In a footage from the local media, some of them could be seen carrying their things while others had injured persons on their backs.

Firefighters can be seen removing a woman on a stretcher from a dangerously unstable four-story wooden building while she is covered in dust and is shoeless in another video obtained by MandyNews.com.
