If you’ve been hounded by unwanted calls from unknown numbers on WhatsApp, here’s some good news. Meta has rolled out a new feature that allows you to silence these calls automatically, according to the Meta Channel on Instagram. The aim is to enhance privacy and offer more control to users on the platform.
“You can now automatically silence incoming calls from unknown contacts on WhatsApp for even more privacy and control.” – Mark Zuckerberg
This announcement came from Mark Zuckerberg himself on Facebook on June 20th, 2023. The feature, which has been under beta testing for some time, is now available for Android and iOS users worldwide.
Here’s How You Can Set It Up
Make sure you have installed the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone. You can update the app via the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
Open WhatsApp.
Click on the menu (three vertical dots) in the top right corner.
Go to settings.
Click on Privacy.
Select calls.
Enable “Silence Unknown Callers”.
It’s that simple!
This new feature is part of Meta’s continual commitment to improve the user experience on WhatsApp. They’ve been rolling out new features almost every week. For instance, they recently introduced WhatsApp channels in select markets and also introduced the ability to edit sent messages for up to 15 minutes.
