Nigerian singer Banky W was declared winner of the People’s Democratic Party primary election for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
The video was spotted by MandyNews.com, and the singer was seen celebrating.
A few days after his victory, a report came from Abuja that Banky W may not be the party’s candidate for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Lagos.
To make matters worse, a fresh result that showed Olubankole Wellington as the loser started trending on social media.
Since then, his supporters have been asking questions like “why were the primary election results overturned?”
You may recall that your favorite blog, Mandy News, reported that Banky W had decamped from the Modern Democratic Party to the Peoples Democratic Party a few weeks ago.
The 41-year-old politician used his street credibility to get delegates who voted for him in the primaries, which were held this week in Lagos.
MandyNews.com learnt that the party caucus were not happy about it for someone who just decamped to the party to get the ticket in the midst of old aspirants.
As a result, his opponent, Sam Aiboni, allegedly manipulated to get a result sheet in his favour and sent it to Abuja.
In response to the reversed results that handed Sam Aiboni the victory, the singer stated that he is still the winner and that the party is working on the official results.
Kennedy Salami, a close assistant to the musician, told Daily Trust that the public should disregard the online result sheet.
Salami said, “Please this result is false. We have spoken to almost all the leaders in the PDP. They are all working on it and have asked Banky to remain calm and allow them to sort it out. It appears that Sam allegedly was able to manoeuvre to get a result sheet in his favour, for an election that BANKY WELLINGTON WON.”
