Osinbajo is a Nigerian lawyer and vice president under President Muhammadu Buhari. He made his announcement just days after Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transport, declared his bid.
Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, declared his participation in the presidential election next year on Monday.
The former Attorney General of Lagos State and Senior Advocate of Nigeria had previously been reported to have informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his ambition.
The message of his announcement today was:
Dear Nigerians for the past seven years. I have served as vice president under a true Nigerian Patriot the servant of the nation in War and Peace and the man of integrity president muhammadu buhari.
We have worked through some of the most difficult times in the history of our nation or we have remained focused on securing the country.
Providing infrastructure and growing our economy as stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution.
Our tenure will end next year.
This period of seven years, I’ve served the government in several capacities and I have a direction of mr. President represented, our country’s insensitive, high level International engagements.
I’ve been to practically all local governments in Nigeria.
I’ve been in markets in factories in schools and Farms.
I’ve been in agricultural Mining and all producing communities in the delta in caving in the new group, in born in rivers, in Porto and low and in all other states of the Federation, listening to the diverse experiences and yearnings.
I’ve visited our Gallant troops inthe Northeast and our brothers, and sisters in the IDP camps.
I felt her pain and anguish of victims, in violent conflicts, terrorist attacks, floating fire, and other disasters.
I’ve been the homes of many ordinary Nigerians in various parts of the country.
I stood where they stood, and I sat where they sat.
“I know their hopes and aspirations and their fears. And I believe that in those hopes and aspirations are the seeds for the great Nigeria.
That we all desire.
I believe that the very reason why they almighty God gave me these experiences these insights. And these opportunities is that they must be put to the use of our country and his great peoples.”
