Sirika announced the purchase on Sunday, stating that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had not bought new firefighting trucks in 15 years.

Sirika shared the news via Twitter, emphasizing the government’s focus on safety in aviation since President Buhari took office in 2015. However, the announcement drew swift criticism from Nigerians, who questioned the cost and need for such an expenditure.

The Rosenbauer Concept Fire Truck (CFT), considered the world’s most expensive fire truck, has an estimated cost of $1.1 million. The purchase of 10 such trucks would amount to $11 million, raising questions about the remaining $18 million spent by the Nigerian government.
