Ogun State, Nigeria (MandyNews.com) Habeeb Okikiola, the controversial singer better known as Portable, appeared before an Ogun State Magistrate’s Court in Ifo on Monday after being detained at the police headquarters on Friday for ignoring numerous invitations.
The court let him out on bail even though he faces multiple charges, such as intentionally hurting someone and resisting arrest.
Portable pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him. A portion of the charges read, “On the 28th day of March 2023 at 11:00 hrs. at Odogwu Bar, Oke-Osa, Ilogbo, Ifo, in the Ifo Magisterial District, Portable willfully caused or inflicted physical injury on one Inspector Hammed Moshood with his elbow on his nose, causing blood to gush out from his nose.” This offense is punishable under Section 4 (1) of the Violence Against Persons and Prohibition Laws of Ogun State, Nigeria, 2017.
Inspector Hammed Moshood, ASP Gregory Iyoha, and ASP Kunle Badmus have also said that Portable tried to avoid being arrested after they gave him a letter from the police on January 20, 2023.
Section 197 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006, says that this is against the law and that it is punishable.
The singer is also facing accusations of assaulting one of his boys. In total, Portable has more than six charges to attend to, including a separate incident involving the beating of a man in Otta who filed a petition with the CP Ogun.
There are several cases of assault and attacks against him that are still being looked into because people have complained.
As the legal process goes on, the Ogun State Magistrate’s Court has given Portable bail. The singer’s career and reputation in the community will depend on how these investigations and trials turn out.
