Major 7.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Indonesia, Causing Widespread Panic

The European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported that an earthquake of a magnitude of 7.7 happened in Indonesia’s Tanimbar region on Tuesday local time.

According to a report obtained by MandyNews.com, the Earthquake Tracker recorded 109 earthquakes in Indonesia within the past 24 hours.

According to EMSC, the earthquake took place at a depth of 97 km at roughly 4:47 am local time (2:47 pm GMT).

Although the quake was felt throughout the area, there were no early reports of significant injuries or damage. Residents of Darwin, Australia, which is more than 600 kilometers from the earthquake’s epicenter, also felt the vibrations.

According to recent earthquake data, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake occurred near Tobelo, Maluku Utara, Indonesia today, followed by a 6.0 magnitude earthquake near Gorontalo, Indonesia.

In the past 24 hours, there have been 109 earthquakes with a magnitude of M1.5 or greater, 767 earthquakes in the past 7 days, 3,968 earthquakes in the past 30 days, and 49,571 earthquakes in the past 365 days.

The biggest earthquakes recorded today include the 7.0 magnitude in Tobelo, Maluku Utara, Indonesia, which also holds the title for the biggest earthquake this week.

The largest earthquake this month was a 7.6 magnitude in Tual, Maluku, Indonesia, and the biggest earthquake this year was also a 7.6 magnitude in Tual, Maluku, Indonesia.
