Abubakar Malami, Nigeria’s Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), has refused to resign like the rest of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet. Instead, he withdrew from the governorship race in Kebbi State.
Sahara Reporters has reported that Abubakar Malami will not resign, but instead withdraws his ambition to contest for the governorship position.
In April 2022, Malami expressed interest in running for governor of Kebbi State in 2023.
People Gazette had reported that Malami gave away over 200 exotic cars to members of his party before the state’s governorship primary.
According to sources close to the minister, he dropped out of the campaign because he was afraid he may not obtain the ticket.
