The All Progressives Congress (APC) 2022 national convention slated to take place on Saturday 26 February, was postponed on Monday due to an internal crisis.
What happened: The ruling party informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the event would take place on “Saturday 26th March 2022” instead. The outdoor convention — which had gained serious publicity — was scheduled due to a misunderstanding within the caucus.
Why APC Postponed 2022 Convention?
A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Tanko Yakasai revealed that his party fixed the National Convention date without conducting a zonal congress.
“This is not only disappointing but shameful!
I’ve never seen such level of disorganisation.
You fix a national convention without conducting zonal Congress.
U went to PMB to get his approval for the convention, knowing full well there’s a by-election the same day. Only to cancel again”.
