The second woman to die from a crush at the Asake concert in Brixton on Thursday has been identified as Gabrielle Hutchinson.
A second woman who was seriously hurt in a crowd at the Brixton Academy concert by Nigerian musician Asake has passed away.
Gabrielle Hutchinson, the 23-year-old woman, passed away on Monday, December 19 in the hospital.
According to information obtained by Mandy News, the victim was one of the hired security personnel for the function that evening.
Afrobeat musician Asake was performing at the venue when police were summoned, according to a statement. There were complaints of a “large number of people trying to force access to the venue.”
Two other women, ages 21 and 23, are still in a serious state in the hospital. Rebecca Ikumelo, 33, a mother of two from Newham, east London, also passed away on Saturday morning.
Following the incident on Thursday night in south London, eight individuals were brought to the hospital with injuries.
After singing three songs, the Nigerian musician was forced to withdraw from the performance. He issued a statement declaring that his “heart is with those who were injured.”
Colin Wingrove, chief superintendent of the Metropolitan Police, was quoted in a statement obtained by Mandy News as saying:
- “It is devastating news that a second person has lost their life following the events on Thursday.
- “I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to Gabrielle’s family at this unimaginably difficult time.”
