Nigerian law enforcement authorities provided an explanation for one of the key issues surrounding the shooting death of pregnant lawyer Omobolanle Raheem, whom many people described as a very positive and supportive person.
The man who killed her was ASP Drambi Vandi, of Ajiwe Division, Lagos, according to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer.
But they didn’t give any background on Drambi or offer a possible motive, but they said he is currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
A brief Facebook search by Mandy News Eagle Eyes turned up a new image and profile for ASP Dambri Vandi.
The policeman identified himself on Facebook as a detective who lives in Obalende, Lagos, and is originally from Michika, a town and local government area in Adamawa State, Nigeria.
Omobolanle Raheem is a lawyer from Nigeria who is Yoruba by birth. On Sunday, she and her family were on their way back from a Christmas church service when they encountered police officers on the road. According to the report, the police officer opened fire on her after they tried to stop the car.
She was taken to a morgue by another group of police, who then fled.
According to sources, Gafaru Buraimoh, a young man, was killed by an officer from the same division where Drambi is stationed roughly two weeks ago.
