So, when will Beyoncé release ‘Cowboy Carter’? Will she go on a tour? Who is on her new album? Here’s everything you should know.
When Is Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter Album Coming Out?
Beyoncé’s upcoming eighth studio album, ‘Cowboy Carter’ (also known as Act II: Cowboy Carter or simply Act II), is set to be released on March 29, 2024, through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. Inspired by country music, this record is part of Beyoncé’s trilogy project conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic, following her previous album ‘Renaissance’ in 2022.
The announcement of the album came on February 11, 2024, following a teaser in a Verizon commercial aired during Super Bowl LVIII, featuring Beyoncé alongside actor Tony Hale. Beyoncé revealed the album’s release date via social media and simultaneously dropped the album’s two lead singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages”.
What is the tracklist for ‘Cowboy Carter’ by Beyoncé?
Beyoncé ventured into country music with her track “Daddy Lessons” featured on Lemonade (2016). A remix of the song, featuring the Chicks, was released as a promotional single on November 2, 2016. Their joint performance of the song at the 50th annual Country Music Association Awards drew attention, with some country music fans criticizing Beyoncé’s presence. According to Alex Abad-Santos of Vox, this criticism stemmed from Beyoncé’s liberal-leaning politics, as well as doubts about her country music credibility, with some instances reflecting racist sentiments.
Following the performance, the Country Music Association (CMA) faced backlash after deleting promotional posts about Beyoncé’s involvement. Many interpreted this as an attempt to quell criticism. However, the CMA refuted these claims, asserting that Beyoncé’s team had requested the removal of a promotional clip before the performance, providing documentation of the event. Despite Lemonade receiving nine Grammy nominations in December 2016, “Daddy Lessons” was reportedly rejected by the Recording Academy’s country music committee.
